What Are The 9 “Fruits” of the Spirit?
Galatians 5:22-23 show new Christ-like ways (fruit of the Spirit):
Christ said, “I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing” – John 15:5
What Does the Fruit of the Spirit Mean?
The Fruit of the Spirit is character qualities that Paul (Disciple of Christ), is referring to as the Holy Spirit. When someone accepts Christ as their savior, He sends the Holy Spirit to guide them.
When they allow the Holy Spirit to guide them, they will want to turn from their old sinful worldly ways and their life will reflect the “Fruit of the Spirit”.
Galatians 5:19-21 (verses just before) show our old sinful worldly ways:
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God“.

Helpful Tips to Help You Get Started
- Decide what lessons you want to use. 4-6 weeks is a good length; meeting once a week.
- Some kids may not own a bible or forget to bring one so you should have enough bibles available for them to borrow during the study. Check your local dollar store or thrift store.
- Use a good dictionary (you can use more than one; including a bible dictionary), and have them take turns looking up any words.
- Have them give you their email address or home address at the first meeting so that you can get any missed lessons to them. You could also wait until the next meeting.
- You can mix things up and meet at a local park for a lesson.
- Be flexible. Some kids may not show up and others may come late. They may talk more (or less) depending on the topic of study. They may seem bored. Remember, God is in charge – use the lessons to plant a seed and let him do his work in his own time.
- Don’t forget extra pencils and snacks.
